In Greek mythology, Narcissus was a beautiful hunter who was known for his extraordinary beauty. According to the myth, Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection in a pool of water and became so obsessed with it that he eventually wasted away and died.

The flower “narcissus” is said to have sprung up from the spot where Narcissus died. It is sometimes also called “poet’s narcissus” because of its association with the story of Narcissus, which has been a popular subject in literature and art throughout the centuries. In addition to its literary and mythological associations, the narcissus is also known for its sweet fragrance and is a popular flower in gardens and as a cut flower.
