The red variety of yarrow, also known as Achillea millefolium ‘Paprika’, was named after the spice paprika because of its bright red color, which resembles that of the spice. In addition to its ornamental and medicinal uses, red yarrow is also sometimes used as a natural dye for fabrics.

Just learned that the common daisy has two types of flowers in one! The outer petals are sterile ray flowers and the center is made up of fertile disc flowers. Nature never ceases to amaze me! 🌼

Daffodil bulbs are toxic to many animals including cats, dogs, and even squirrels! The bulbs contain lycorine, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and even more severe symptoms if ingested in large quantities. So while daffodils may be beautiful to look at, it’s important to keep them out of reach of our furry friends.
